2025 Seibu Ryu All-American Seminar
This is a two-day event to pass along knowledge, help accelerate skill and understanding, and to celebrate what we do!

NOTICE!
Please arrive early and be ready to start right on time (make sure you are dressed). Also allow time to help set up, clean and get some informal time with our guests.
Session Flow
Each session will have a prep, bow-in, quick warm ups, instruction, and bow out. Instruction will be broken up into 45 min or 30 min segments. Each segment will have a technique, theme or goal.
Dual Studios
Friday, and Saturday's 1st session, will have 2 studio spaces available to use. These rooms will be split to cover different material. Student assignment to each room will be by experience or instructor assignment.
"Advancing"
Chris Sensei uses the term "Advancing" to refer to what will push a student into new territory. This may mean discussing what advanced directionals would look like, or challenging students with new technique or kata.
Saturday Break
A 45 min break will be provided on Saturday to allow us time to transition studios, eat and socialize a bit. Snacks, tea and water will be provided. You are also encouraged to bring whatever else you might like. There will be additional small breaks throughout the session.
Cutting
Each student should expect 5 individual targets. The goal is to cover the essentials to good cutting and move people towards better 6-cut pattern. You will also get pointers on cutting through multiple targets.
Cutting Competition
We will end the seminar with a friendly multi-target cutting competition. The cut will be kesa. This will be a single elimination event, where we continue to increase the number of targets needed to cut. Ties will be determined based on % cut through the last target cut, and by the instructors' discretion.
