Traditional Iai-battojutsu Classes 「居合抜刀術」
Introduction
Classes are formal and taught in the traditional way. This includes wearing a traditional uniform, bowing at the beginning and end of class, and using the proper forms of etiquette and language. Classes emphasize conditioning, footwork, quick draws and proper cutting techniques. Kata is used to teach effective responses to different situations and to perfect precise control of the sword. Students will also practice cutting with a live sword once they have achieved a certain level of mastery, respect and safety. There is a ranking system, which includes black belt degrees and kyu ranks for beginner or intermediate students. The goal is to master the katana, as well as the self.
